Dubai has never been shy about embracing bold ideas, and the newly announced Dubai Loop proves once again that the city is leading the way in futuristic infrastructure. In collaboration with Elon Musk’s Boring Company, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed a preliminary agreement to build an underground electric transport system unlike anything seen in the region.

The first phase of the Dubai Loop will stretch 17 kilometres and include 11 stations, strategically designed to connect high-demand areas of the city. Using fully electric vehicles capable of speeds up to 160 km/h, the system aims to carry more than 20,000 passengers per hour, with future expansions targeting over 100,000.
Beyond the impressive numbers, the Dubai Loop addresses one of the city’s greatest challenges: traffic congestion. By shifting movement underground, the system promises to cut travel times between key hubs, bypassing surface delays and creating a smooth, reliable journey for commuters and visitors alike.

Sustainability is also at the heart of the project. With zero-emission electric vehicles and advanced tunnelling technology designed to minimize disruption, the Loop aligns perfectly with Dubai’s vision of becoming a smart, green, and connected city of the future.
While exact station locations, costs, and timelines are yet to be revealed, the potential is clear. This is not just another transport project — it’s a bold reimagining of how cities can move people efficiently, safely, and sustainably.

The Dubai Loop could be transformative — offering fast, sustainable, underground transit in one of the world’s fastest growing cities. For residents, commuters, and visitors, it promises to cut down on traffic, travel time, and environmental impact. If executed well, it will further solidify Dubai’s reputation as a pioneer in cutting-edge urban transportation.
